HOW TO Skin Care

My Acne Story | Quick Fixes for Acne

Dealing with acne has almost become a daily task for me for at least the last 5 years. If you didn’t already know, I dealt with acne as a normal teenager, but because both my parents had acne as youngsters, my acne wasn’t the most easy acne to deal with. It eventually calmed down at the age age of 18 and I thought that it was the last time I had to see new pimples everyday. But boy did I have any idea what God had planned for me-ADULT ACNE.

Adult Acne was something that I never ever-like EVER imagined having in my entire life. By the time  I was in my 3rd year of university, adult acne just showed up and never left until last year. If you didn’t already know, I have had not one but two accutane treatments which is almost rare because it’s kind of dangerous. Accutane is an acne treatment which dermatologist usually use as a last resort to treat patients with severe cystic and/or nodular acne (I had both). Dermatologists basically prescribe the Isotretinoin drug which treats the acne for a long period of time, sometimes forever.

Hover, one of the reasons why most acne patients avoid this treatment is because of its harmful side effects which includes dryness, dandruff, dehydration,  fatigue, weight loss (like I need any), nose bleed, nausea, headaches, backaches, insomnia, depression, suicidal attempts, emotional instability, decreased vision, hearing impairment and much more. To be very honest, except for being suicidal, I have faced all of the above mentioned side effects.

The point of sharing my sad life story is that in these 4 years, I have tried and tested so my products designed to treat acne that I can give you a list of things that have truly worked for me. However, products or regime that worked for me isn’t necessarily going to work for everyone out there because everyone’s body and skin reacts differently. If you feel that your acne is abnormal in any way, always consult a dermatologist!

In addition to the Accutane treatment, I have been using a number of natural products, and following a strict regime that has helped me get rid of acne and its spots and scars. Find a list of my favorites below!

  1. Mana Beauty-CleanserThis is a super mild, something one should use on acne. The beads in this cleanser helps exfoliate the skins, deep cleanses and leaves the skin veryyyyy soft.
  2. Nature Charms-Spot Treatment
I got this in a PR mail and Khadeejah tested it on her pimples-this thing ACTUALLY WORKS.  I would definitely recommend you guys to try this if you’re looking for a quick fix however, this didn’t work on cystic acne. You can buy it HERE!
  3. Saying Goodbye to Dairy Products
One of the major changes that I had to incorporate in my lifestyle was leaving dairy products. The reason why dairy products can aggravate acne is because of the unnatural breeding that takes place when it comes to cows in Pakistan. Many at that cows are injected with hormones that produce milk which in turn can cause hormonal imbalance in our bodies. There were times when I was only having milk in my tea because I can’t survive without a good Karak Chai-can you? Avoid having milk, butter, cheese in your everyday routine, or at least minimize it because it can really have the same impact on skin as fried food items have during acne.
